Help Save Grimsby Ice Factory

Donate to the Options Appraisal

The completed Options Appraisal  will be the basis for an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for first level financing of a complete feasibility study and development work.Great Grimsby Ice Factory Trust has now selected the Architect and Market Researcher who we would like to carry out the Options Appraisal. We can't name the firms yet. However, we do now know the full cost of the Options Appraisal. We do not know how much the Options Appraial will cost.

When we launched this funding appeal, we said we intended to apply for the maximum amount of funding available from the the Architectural Heritage Fund ( £7,500) . Therefore, we needed to find match funding of at least £2,500.

We said we must find match funding of at least £2,500 and possibly more by the end of April 2012 in order to make a successful
application to the Architectural Heritage Fund. Thanks to an incredible effort by members, businesses, other organisations and even people who walked in off the streets, we hit that target. We raised £330 in one night at the concert on Friday 27th April where John Conolly and The Life & Times of Brothers Hogg performed free and this actually took us past £2,000 (see the press coverage here)

We now know that the full cost of the Options Appraisal will be £18,800.

This seems a massive leap from the original £2,500, but at the time of writing we have now raised over £5,000. We have assured our members that we will not be asking them to make further donations. The sum already raised demonstrates that - contrary to what some people may say - there is a belief among local residents, and local and national organisations, businesses and citizens that the Grimsby Ice Factory is worth fighting for.

Our bid to the Architectural heritage Fund is now being considered. We are continuing to find funding and will keep you posted.
